Suspect arrested in patrol car arson case

MANTECA - Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office have made in arrest in an arson case where three of their patrol cars were destroyed.

According to detectives, Samuel Henry Shockley, 32, allegedly torched several patrol cars on December 1, 2011. Several others were covered in flammable liquid.

Parked among the police cars was a pickup truck that had been completely consumed by the fire. It was determined that the pickup was stolen out of the downtown Sonora area.

Detectives say that some of the evidence gathered at the scene contained Shockley's DNA.

Detectives tracked Shockley to a residence in the Manteca area and arrested him. Shockley was booked into Tuolumne County Jail under the charge of Arson.
