Free computer classes at Tracy library begin March 21

TRACY - Let the library help you with computers and technology! The Tracy Branch Library will be offering the following, free computer classes:

- Monday, March 21 & April 4 @ 11 a.m. -1 p.m. - Beginning computers/mouse tutorial

- Thursday, March 24 & April 7 @ 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. - Beginning Internet/searching

- Monday, March 28 & April 11 @ 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.- Beginning E-Mail

- Thursday, March 31 & April 14 @ 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Microsoft Word for Beginners

These classes are designed to help new computer users get comfortable with technology. We welcome residents who have little or no computer/technology experience. At the end of each class, the trainer will answer other computer/technology questions. All classes are drop in - no reservations are required.

This free program is provided through the generosity of the LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act).

Register now for Tracy's citywide garage sale April 16

TRACY - The City of Tracy is pleased to announce the open registration period for the Citywide Garage Sale on Saturday, April 16 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The spring garage sale is for households located on the east side of Tracy Boulevard.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this event which promotes the reuse and recycling of furniture, appliances, electronics, and other household items that normally are disposed of into the landfill. This free event features garage sales throughout the east side of Tracy and gives residents the opportunity to sell their items rather than throwing them away.

Households within the city limits who wish to participate must complete a registration form with the Public Works Department by March 25.

Free tax help available at Ripon public library

RIPON - The Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library is partnering with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to bring free 2010 income tax assistance to our community. The VITA program offers free income tax help to families earning $54,000 or less a year.

Residents interested in getting free income tax assistance must schedule an appointment with Arnetta Lee-Gray, VITA coordinator, by calling her at (209) 483-4190.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance will be offered at 5 p.m. in the Ripon Memorial Branch Library Community Room on the following days: Fridays: March 11, and March 25 and Saturdays: March 5, March 19, and April 2.
