My last working day with the Department will be November 17th. It has been an amazing ride. As my last day gets closer I find myself examining my career and getting a bit nostalgic. One thing about cops is that we have stories. Its one common truth about us. If you sit next to a cop you're going to hear stories. Please indulge me for a moment as I share my favorite story from my career.

Kristi Davis is an embalmer. Several funeral homes pay her to prepare the deceased for visitation and interment. The job is unusual and the vibrant young woman belies the morbid aura that surrounds her profession.

“I am a trade embalmer,” Davis said. “A trade embalmer travels to funeral homes and embalms and performs other services, including cosmetic preparation. They call me when needed, and I serve four homes in San Joaquin County. I also work in Jackson and all the way to Vacaville.
