Tracy volunteers give 900 families brighter Christmas
News

TRACY, CA - The local organization Brighter Christmas has done just that again, 900 families with 2,000 children.

Wednesday was distribution day at Williams Middle School for the group that gives food to families and toys to children.

Brighter Christmas first started the holiday help effort more than 30 years ago. Lori Sparger was working at a bank when a young child noticed a Christmas tree in the business.

"I was in my early 20's. This little boy saw presents under the tree and asked what they were for. I told him they're for families that don't have Christmas. He said 'maybe I'll get one, because we don' t have Christmas either.' It just really touched my heart," said Sparger who added, "I'll always remember the face of that little boy."

Brighter Christmas takes applications for assistance during the year and performs follow up work to make sure each applicant is truly in need.

This year 900 families, with 2,000 children, were helped out. It's been the busiest year ever for Brighter Christmas.
