Modesto Pastor to Serve as Guest Chaplain in U.S. House of Representatives

With the sponsorship of U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock), Pastor Glen Berteau of The House Modesto will serve tomorrow as the guest chaplain in the United States House of Representatives. Pastor Berteau will offer the opening prayer of the legislative session on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 12 p.m. ET.

“Pastor Berteau has been a great leader in our community,” said Rep. Denham. “I’m honored to share the floor of the House with him and to bring his talents as a speaker and evangelist to my colleagues.”

Pastor Berteau currently serves as Senior Pastor of The House Modesto, a church of more than 8,000. His congregation was named one of the top 50 largest churches in America. He serves as a youth pastor and is the author of a popular youth manual and two books, “Christianity Lite” and “Christianity To Go.” He received his Certificate of Ordination from the General Council of the Assemblies of God in 1982. He traveled to Washington, D.C. for the prayer with his wife, Pastor Deborah Berteau.

Prayers are offered at the beginning of each day in session in the House and precede regular business. The invocation can be viewed live on C-SPAN and through www.c-span.org.
