…that I have not completely FAILED in prepping myself for this Sunday’s death march mud run that I will be doing with my son in law. Yes, I can handle the running distance…bitch please…it’s the mud and the upper body strength needed obstacles not to mention it is going to be 80 degrees HOT when we start our race at 12:30 PM. I’m. Going. To. Die. I hope Ben will kindly drag my body to the finish line…for my loving circus clowns who surely will miss me when I am gone....

Imagine a quiet deserted land, palm trees waving with the slightest push of the faint wind, and the feeling of emptiness filling one’s heartbeat when walking down the neighborhood street. It is an eerie feeling almost, children rarely playing in the streets and couples confining themselves to the tiny realms of their homes and television sets, blaring as if a honking car through a broken window.  Often the sky is a vivid blue, and through my bedroom window, it would almost seem as if our neighborhood was a still picture, painted by a careful yet crafty artist that has placed everything in a single, steady place.

National Night Out returns to Ripon

National Night Out returns to Ripon

RIPON - The City of Ripon, Ripon Police Department and Kid Red Entertainment would like to invite all of the citizens of Ripon to celebrate the return of National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2 at the community center located at 334 West 4th Street.

Festivities kick off at 6:00 p.m. with free hot dogs and water for the first 3,000 people followed by Bingo games for the 21 and over, two inflatable water slides, bounce houses, sack races, watermelon eating contest, bucket brigade, tug o'war, car show and more, plus tons of free giveaways including free Baskin Robbins soft serve, Boomers attraction passes, Taco Bell gift cards and even News10 prize packs.

Make sure to stop by the watermelon eating contest at 7:00 p.m. and cheer on Police Chief Ed Ormonde as he challenges Dispatch Supervisor Linda Johnston in a 1-minute, full watermelon eating contest.
