Prestige Senior Living to present exercise seminar May 31

MANTECA - Prestige Senior Living at Manteca will welcome Dr. Taylor Marcell, on Tuesday, May 31, to present "Exercise for Fitness and Vitality at Any Age."

Marcell, author and nationally renowned speaker, will educate attendees about age-related changes in exercise performance, hormone responses and muscle loss, as well as the many benefits of exercise and activity for older adults.

Marcell is an Assistant Professor of Exercise Science at CSU Stanislaus; he received his doctorate from the University of Southern California with an emphasis in the effect of exercise on active older adults. He has presented his research in many national arenas and published several articles addressing age-related fitness.

The seminar will take place at Prestige Senior Living at Manteca, 1130 Empire Avenue, at 6:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend this free event. For more information, call Sunny sundell at (209) 239-4531.

Congressman McNerney to visit Vinewood Community Center May 18

TRACY - On Wednesday, May 18 at 11:00 a.m., Congressman Jerry McNerney, CA-11, will tour the Vinewood Community Center in Tracy, located at 35 East 10th Street, Suite J-1. The Vinewood Community Center provides mental health services for children, adolescents, families and individuals, including school-based counseling and parenting classes on teen gang prevention and substance abuse issues.  The Center serves 400 children and 200 adults annually.

At the site visit on Wednesday, McNerney will hear from the center’s counselors about the services they provide and tour a classroom at the facility.

TRACY - The community is invited to attend the grand opening celebration of Prime Health and Nutrition on Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the new store located at 651-B West Grant Line Road (at Tracy Boulevard).

The event is free but donations will be requested to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Tracy.

Scheduled spray areas for Adult Mosquito Control in Manteca

MANTECA - In response to increased adult mosquito populations in several areas of southern San Joaquin County, the San Joaquin County Mosquito & Vector Control District (District) is preparing to conduct adult mosquito control operations.

The district will continue to implement the California Mosquito-Borne Virus Surveillance and Response Plan to protect the public health and welfare. Spray locations and times will normally be available 24 hours in advance.

Residents can access spray information and spray schedules by calling the district at (209) 982-4675 or toll-free at 1-800-300-4675 during business hours from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.
