Manteca Dental Care gives away flat screen TV to lucky patient

MANTECA - Manteca Dental Care gave away a 55-inch flat screen TV Friday June 8, to one of their patients. Manteca Dental Care has been running a promotion encouraging patients to refer their friends and family to their excellent practice. For each referral received from a patient, the practice had put one entry into the drawing for the fantastic giveaway, a press release announced Wednesday.

The winner, Glenda Avilla, was beyond thrilled; "I thought they were kidding! I was having a bad morning and that call made me go yippee-kay-yay! I have never won anything before, it is so exciting!"

In the dental industry the greatest compliment one can give is to refer someone they know to your practice. Manteca Dental Care gives thanks to all of the wonderful patient referrals.

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY - In response to increased adult mosquito populations and/or the detection of West Nile Virus, the San Joaquin County Mosquito and Vector District is preparing to conduct adult mosquito control operations in the following area(s):

Ground spraying for adult mosquito control using MGK Pyrocide 7396 or Pyronyl 525 is scheduled for the evening of Tuesday, July 12, between 8:30 p.m. - 12:00 p.m. or the evening of Wednesday, July 13 between 8:30 p.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Tracy officials urge community to keep cool

TRACY - Tracy residents are urged to stay cool during this hot weather by utilizing public facilities such as the mall, library, and Tracy Transit Center during normal operating hours. Public facilities act as cooling centers when temperatures reach 95 degrees and above for two consecutive days.

Additionally, the city has partnered with General Growth Properties in encouraging residents to cool down at the West Valley Mall. The Mall is a great place to beat the heat, where you can shop, eat and/or take in a movie with the family while waiting for the temperature to decrease. West Valley Mall is located at 3200 North Naglee Road. The hours of operation are, Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.

Community Center for the Blind to open satellite office in Tracy

TRACY - Community Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired is excited to announce it will sign a lease at the Opera House in Tracy and plans to have services up and running by August!

The organization has been serving the greater San Joaquin County area since 1949, with its home office located at 130 West Flora Street in Stockton and another satellite office in Lodi with adaptive computer classes at Lutheran Redeemer Church.

The center welcomes your calls and questions and looks forward to providing even more direct services to the blind and visually-impaired in the Tracy area.

Aerial mosquito spraying scheduled June 24

In response to increased adult mosquito populations in an additional area of San Joaquin County, San Joaquin County Mosquito and Vector Control District (District) is preparing to conduct adult mosquito control operatons,  a press release announced Wednesday.

The district will continue to implement the California Mosquito-Borne Virus Surveillance and Response Plan to protect the public health and welfare. Spray locations and times will normally be available 24 hours in advance.  People can access spray information and scheduled spray locations by calling the District at (209) 982-4675 or toll-free at 1-800-300-4675 during business hours from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.
