Tips to keep mosquitoes away

SACRAMENTO-  There's a lot to look forward to this summer, including picnics, barbecues, and pool parties, but mosquitoes are sure to become uninvited guests.

The American Mosquito Control Association has some advice to keep the mosquitoes away.  One tip is to time your outdoor activities around the peak times mosquitoes are out, which is typically dusk and dawn.  They also advise you to keep it breezy on your porch and patio using fans.  Mosquitoes are poor flyers and with strategically placed fans, you can prevent them from making their way in.

And turn on bug lights.  If you have a deck, use General Electric yellow bug lights.  They don't act as a repellant, but they don't attract mosquitoes as much as incandescent white lights.
