Follow-up: Manteca Chef fares well- wins challenge on Cutthroat Kitchen

Chef Michael Midgley thought he'd lost it duirng Sunday's (January 12) episode of Cutthroat Kitchen when he was given a child's kitchen to work in for the final round.

This is it, he said to himself, as he took his place behind a cooking station built for, in his words, "a gnome". Midgely, the exectuive chef at Ernie's Food & Spirits in Manteca, thought  it was going to be a nightmare.

But Midgley got down to the challenge, did not come up short and defeated his opponent's balsmic tainted shortcake dessert with a strawberry shortcake dish set off by goat cheese.

As the winner, he pocketed $15,500 - the balance of the $25,000 in spending money each contestant was given at the start of the show.  He said he would celelbrate by taking his daughter to her favorite amusement park.

Manteca chef Michael Midgley back on TV- Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen

Top Chef launched chef Michael Midgley's star as a small-town cook with big-league potential  Then Knife Fight showecased his streetwise personality and his ability to judge exotic dishes.

Next - he's back as a contestant on Cutthroat Kitchen this Sunday- January 12 at 10 PM on the Food Netwok.

Midgley is executive chef at Ernie's Food and Spiritis in Manteca.  Ernie's General Manager Brian Soria says the local valley is very lucky to have such a talented chef as Midgely and.."hopefully, after Cutthroat Kitchen airs this Sunday it will bring more food lovers to Ernies  Food & Spriits."

The show pits four contestants against one another, testing thier acumen in the kitchen as as well as thier competitive spriit. Each contestant is given $25,000 to shop for ingredients  and, according to Midgely, "There are these sabotages they throw at you."

How does he "fare"?  Watch Sunday to find out!
