Tracy Dry Bean Festival celebrates 25 years Sept. 10, 11

TRACY - What better way to enjoy and embrace the beautiful weather that fall brings by having fun and coming out to the 25th annual celebration of the Tracy Dry Bean Festival. This year the event will take place on September 10 and 11, Saturday 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.- 6 p.m.

Come out and enjoy all the attractions, entertainment, music, food and of course, FUN! By the way don't forget to stop by and take a ride on Big West the mechanical bull, a huge attraction full of entertainment for all ages. Also enjoy some of our delicious food and for your sweet tooth our signature specialty cakes and desserts. 

Big West will be located on B Street and 10th, near Bank of America. In celebration of the 25 years for the Tracy Dry Bean Festival, a special ceremony will take place on Saturday morning on the main stage. Cake will be courtesy of Baby Cakes by Big West.

TRACY - Cool down your summer nights with music, drinks, friends and food at Tracy’s Downtown Block Party, on Saturday, August 6 at the corner of 6th Street and Central Ave from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Block Party Series continues with the Dave Russell Band. Dave Russell is a"Down home, good ole' boy from North Carolina" who has toured the country performing sold out shows in Nashville, San Antonio, Reno, Biloxi, and all over California.

National Night Out returns to Ripon

National Night Out returns to Ripon

RIPON - The City of Ripon, Ripon Police Department and Kid Red Entertainment would like to invite all of the citizens of Ripon to celebrate the return of National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2 at the community center located at 334 West 4th Street.

Festivities kick off at 6:00 p.m. with free hot dogs and water for the first 3,000 people followed by Bingo games for the 21 and over, two inflatable water slides, bounce houses, sack races, watermelon eating contest, bucket brigade, tug o'war, car show and more, plus tons of free giveaways including free Baskin Robbins soft serve, Boomers attraction passes, Taco Bell gift cards and even News10 prize packs.

Make sure to stop by the watermelon eating contest at 7:00 p.m. and cheer on Police Chief Ed Ormonde as he challenges Dispatch Supervisor Linda Johnston in a 1-minute, full watermelon eating contest.

Tracy PD to host National Night Out event

TRACY - The Tracy Police Department, in conjunction with numerous partners, will be hosting a National Night Out event at Civic Plaza in front of City Hall on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 3:30 to 7:30 in the evening.

Tracy K9 units will be performing demonstrations as well as the Tracy Motor Unit. There will also be informational booths providing suggestions for making the community of Tracy a safer place to live.

Food, drinks and fun will be provided as well as safety tips. There will be jump house, dunk tank, face painting as well as fingerprinting. This is a departure from past National Night Out events that were hosted by individual Neighborhood Watch groups. The purpose is to give the maximum amount of information to the greatest number of people in an entertaining environment where the community will have a chance to gather together.

Tracy Police Chief Janet Thiessen said, "We are excited about this new event.

Manteca police to host Central Valley Explorer Competition July 15-17

Manteca police to host Central Valley Explorer Competition July 15-17

MANTECA - The Manteca Police Department will host its 1st Central Valley Explorer Competition on Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 17. Manteca PD along with Ripon PD, Modesto PD, and Tracy PD have put together this competition for explorers (ages 14 -21 years old) consisting of 19 teams, including Los Angeles PD, Border Patrol, teams from the bay area, along with several others agencies.

Explorers will have a chance to compete for trophies in situations police officers may encounter through out their career. Friday will consist of opening ceremonies which the police chiefs of Manteca, Ripon, Modesto, and Tracy will attend.

The competition will be held at Sierra High School, located at 1700 Thomas Street in Manteca.

Mountain House library to host animal education event July 14

MOUNTAIN HOUSE - Come learn about small creatures from around the world! On July 14, at 4:00 p.m. the Mountain House Branch Library will host a Great Valley Museum Traveling Teacher who will present a free program about animals from around the globe.

This exciting event is for those six years old and above, and includes an easy craft project to be taken home. Because space will be limited, please make sure to sign up at the library in advance.
