The San Joaquin Delta College Engineering Department is hosting its Twenty-Eighth Annual Engineering & Technology Day on Friday, February 6. The day's activities will take place from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Delta College Hosts SkillsUSA Regional Competition, February 21, Judges & Volunteers Needed!

For the 6th year in a row, San Joaquin Delta College will host the SkillsUSA Region 5 Competition, Saturday, February 21. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. in the Tillie Lewis Theater. The day’s competitions start at 9 a.m., with 80 trade skills judged on campus till 1:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. in Tillie Lewis.

Delta College seeks volunteers and judges to help with this year’s competition! Anyone interested in volunteering for this year’s event is encouraged to fill out the online volunteer form at:

There will be two volunteer training sessions at Delta College in Holt 313, February 11 at 7 p.m., and Feb. 12 at 6 p.m.

Youth Energy Summit Focuses on Agriculture, Food and Energy in Roseville

Roseville Electric, in partnership with SMUD, Lodi Electric and Turlock Irrigation District, will host the seventh annual Youth Energy Summit (YES) training and educational event on January 24 and 25, 2015. This two-day forum for local students from throughout the Central Valley will focus on food and agriculture. Students who will be attending submitted an application to attend the interactive training event which will allow them to focus on and learn more about developments in green energy, technology and sustainability.

The summit, taking place at the Roseville Utility Exploration Center, teaches students through lecturers and interactive workshops given by a diverse group of talented professionals including the energy, agriculture, food transportation, grocery and food service sectors. Some of the topics that the experts and students will discuss are the future in agriculture technology, sustainability beyond the plate and understanding where your food comes from.

San Joaquin Hispanic Chamber & University of the Pacific sponsor student financial aid workshop

The San Joaquin Chamber of Commerce, University of the Pacific and several other agencies are sponsoring the 12th annual San Joaquin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Student Financial Aid and College Awareness Workshop.

The free event will be at Alex G. Spanos Center on the University of the Pacific campus in Stockton.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the program begins at 9 a.m. The workshops are focused on sixth- to 12th-graders and their parents. All 12th-graders will work on the free application for federal student aid with college financial aid counselors.

Exhibit Opening

The Art Against Violence exhibit is opening this Saturday, January 10 at the Mexican Heritage Center, 111 S. Sutter, Stockton, and runs through January 30. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday, noon – 5 pm. A reception will take place Friday, January 16 from 5:30 pm – 8 pm with entertainment, food and an opportunity to meet the artists.
