In response to increased adult mosquito populations in several areas of San Joaquin County, San Joaquin County Mosquito and Vector Control District (District) is preparing to conduct adult mosquito control operatons.

The district will continue to implement the California Mosqutio-Borne Virus Surveillance and Response Plan to protect the public health and welfare. Spray locations and times will normally be available 24 hours in advance.  People can access spray information and scheduled spray locations by calling the district at (209) 982-4675 or toll-free at 1-800-300-4675 during business hours from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday or by visiting the District's website online at www.sjmosquito.org.

Due to increased adult mosquito populations and/or detection of West Nile virus, the following areas are scheduled for spraying:

Ground spraying for adult mosquito control using, MGK Pyrocide 7396 or Evergreen 60-6 is scheduled for the evening of Thursday, June  16, 2011, between 8:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. or the evening of Friday, June 17, 2011 between 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (see District website for spray maps, http://sjmosquito.org/spraying-updates.htm )  

West Rural Ripon >North to one mile north of W. Ripon Rd.,  > South to Hutchinson Rd., >East Jack Tone Rd., > West to Kincaid Rd.

South Rural Manteca - North to Division Rd., > South to San Joaquin / Stanislaus River, > West to Airport Way, > East to Stanislaus River 
 
Wright & Elmwood Tract

Spraying for adult mosquitoes is done near sunset or sunrise with trucks and airplanes when mosquitoes are most active. The District will be using sprayers that apply a very fine mist that kills adult mosquitoes on contact. Control operations are contingent upon favorable weather conditions and if canceled, will typically be rescheduled to the following morning or evening.
