Ripon children pack care boxes for troops

RIPON, CA - Dozens of students from Ripon Christian Elementary School spent time Friday packing care packages for members of the military.

Ripon Christian has traditionally organized projects for students to help others less fortunate.  This is the fifth year they've packed boxes with food items and toiletries for troops.

Nancy VanderVeen is one of the organizers.

"I think it's good for us to have a connection with our military personnel.  They've made a huge commitment and we have to show our commitment to them," said VanderVeen.

Nearly 100 boxes were filled by the students.  It will cost nearly $10 for each of them to be mailed to Afghanistan or Iraq.
