100 pounds of illegal fireworks seized in Tracy
Crime

TRACY, CA - Tracy police and fire staff took part in a seizure earlier this week of about 100 pounds of illegal fireworks.

Some of the fireworks appeared to be meant for consumers, but still are considered illegal in California. The rest appeared to be professional fireworks that would provide quite a thrill.

"This is explosive grade material, and professional equipment, in the hands of people who are not professionals," said Division Chief David Bramell of the Tracy Fire Department.

Bramell said it was an anonymous tip to Tracy police that led them to find the fireworks at a home in East Tracy.

"Where they launch is a concern, there's spectators, people and children, and then the potential of risk for injury and property damage is significant," said Bramell.

The man who was in possession of the fireworks has not been arrested.  But this case has been sent to the District Attorney's Office for possible prosecution.
