91 felony arrests made in San Joaquin law enforcement sweep | Crime
On 6/22/12, the Manteca PD Street Crimes Unit (SCU) hosted a multi-agency taskforce operation to target criminal activity with an emphasis on gang members and their associates. Chief Obligacion directed this operation in response to recent violent criminal activity in the City of Manteca.
Approximately 60 officers from the following agencies participated in the operation: Manteca PD, Stockton PD, Tracy PD, Lathrop PD, Ripon PD, San Joaquin County Sheriff's Dept, California Highway Patrol, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (Parole), and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Following are some of the statistics compiled over the 9 hour operation:
Probation Searches: 44
Parole Searches: 18
Field Contacts with Gang Members/Associates: 91 Felony Arrests: 9 Misdemeanor Arrests: 6 ICE Holds: 2 Parole Holds: 2
Of the people arrested, 4 were currently on parole and 6 were on probation for other crimes.
Drugs seized included Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Heroin and Marijuana.
One loaded firearm and one bullet proof vest were also recovered along with multiple rounds of firearm ammunition.
The Manteca Police Department is grateful to participating agencies for their assistance in addressing violent crimes in our community. This mutual aid cooperation between agencies will continue throughout the county and MPD will be hosting more of these operations in the future.
