Follow-up: Manteca Chef fares well- wins challenge on Cutthroat Kitchen

Chef Michael Midgley thought he'd lost it duirng Sunday's (January 12) episode of Cutthroat Kitchen when he was given a child's kitchen to work in for the final round.

This is it, he said to himself, as he took his place behind a cooking station built for, in his words, "a gnome". Midgely, the exectuive chef at Ernie's Food & Spirits in Manteca, thought  it was going to be a nightmare.

But Midgley got down to the challenge, did not come up short and defeated his opponent's balsmic tainted shortcake dessert with a strawberry shortcake dish set off by goat cheese.

As the winner, he pocketed $15,500 - the balance of the $25,000 in spending money each contestant was given at the start of the show.  He said he would celelbrate by taking his daughter to her favorite amusement park.
