San Joaquin USA in Silicon Valley conference

The San Joaquin Partnership's "Greater Silicon Valley" program had a significant presence at the Silicon Joint Venture "State of the Valley" conference yesterday in Santa Clara. The conference gives a comprehensive check-up on the region's overall health and well-being.

More than 1,500 people participated in the State of the Valley including senior business executives, elected officials, heads of organizations, labor leaders, venture capitalists, journalists, academics and a host of other community members. San Joaquin Partnership president & CEO Mike Ammann (pictured) says it's a perfect opportunity to promote San Joaquin County as an extension of the Silicon Valley.

"We are able to engage corporate decision makers in conversations about the benefits of a San Joaquin County location," says Ammann. He was joined by San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair, Chuck Winn, County Administrator Monica Nino, Deputy Administrator Elena Reyes, Airport Director Harry Mavrogenes, Manteca Economic Development Manager Don Smail, Stephanie Hobbs, representing the City of Ripon as well as Esperanza Vielma and Kenny McCann from Cafe Coop. A copy of the Silicon Valley Index distributed yesterday can be found here. Following the conference Ammann took the group on a tour of the Partnership and the county's Greater Silicon Valley office at TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) headquarters, introducing them to TiE's Executive Director Raj Desai.
