Holt of California, Verve Networks honored by Veterans Program

The California Employer Advisory Council (CEAC) along with the Employment Development Department (EDD) annually honors employers who consistently demonstrate positive policies toward U.S. veterans and go the extra mile to hire, retain, and promote them providing training and benefits. Holt of California and Verve Networks along with US Foods, ASCO and Lowes received certificates of recognition from EDD & CEAC for outstanding service in the employment of veterans for the year 2014 at the August 14th Veterans Orientation workshop. Verve Networks participated in The Veterans' Program at the Stockton EDD office in San Joaquin County. Holt of California provided a valuable perspective to the veterans during the Veteran Network (VET NET) workshops.

VET NET is an 8 week workshop design to get veteran's job ready for today's job market. It is during week 4 & week 8 that Verve Networks, along with many other employers conducted resume critiquing and mock interviews with the veterans. The Veterans' Program is a grant-funded program with the EDD's Workforce Services Branch. Each year, the U.S. Department of Labor-Veterans' Employment and Training Services awards the Jobs for Veterans State Grant to EDD to support the services to veterans.

Eligibility for the Veterans Employer of the Year Awards is limited to California employers who are in compliance with all national, state, and local laws, and who are in good standing with the State of California. • California Employers have a criteria set by the CEAC that are rated in regards to how the employer is committed to the hiring of veterans and how veterans contribute to the employer's success. • The employer demonstrates its commitment to the hiring of qualified veterans / disabled veterans. • The employer has programs that provide veterans / disabled veterans with opportunities for advancement and/or them to remain competitive in the workplace. • The employer demonstrates a leadership role in the community as an advocate for veteran / disabled veteran programs.
