Stockton Symphony's season launches this Saturday with Cirque de la Symphonie

The Stockton Symphony kicks off their new season this Saturday (9/13) with the return of Cirque de la Symphonie for two new performances. The company wowed Stockton in their debut performance in September 2012 with a “Cirque” style show, complete with aerial flyers, acrobats, contortionists, dancers, jugglers, balancers and strongmen performing to orchestral works selected by Maestro Peter Jaffe. The company has performed with the San Francisco Symphony and the Boston Pops, to name but a few. The concerts, performed September 13 at 6 pm and Sunday, September 14 at 2:30 pm in the Atherton Autidtorium on the San Joaquin Delta College campus (5151 Pacific Ave, Stockton) , still have seats available. www.StocktonSymphony.org

Art Break Day

Art Break Day

Last year I discovered Art Break Day, a day where people gather throughout the world to make art for free. The Art Break Day message “art is an essential part of a healthy community and everyone deserves access to it” resonated with me so I contacted the founders of the non-profit Art Is Moving, that conceived Art Break Day in 2011, to register Victory Park as an Art Break Day site.

A wide variety of people came to the first Art Break Day in Stockton, about 100 in all - couples, singles, parents with children, seniors, developmentally disabled, friends, skilled artists and those just wanting to have fun.  What touched me was how grateful everyone was for the opportunity to gather and make art.
