Animal volunteer pleads for precious Pomeranian's return

A true animal lover at heart, Stella Corso spends much of her time volunteering and providing a safe home for desperate animals in Tracy. On Thursday, she was forced to shift her attention to one of her own.

Stella volunteers at a local pet store, cleans cages, takes in stray cats and is a spay/nueter advocate in her community. Her family calls her a Dr. Doolittle of sorts with 4 cats and 3 dogs at home. Her animals bring joy to her life which made Thursday's discovery devastating.

Stella's playful Pomeranian, Roxy suddenly went missing on Central between Mt. Diablo and Mt. Oso Avenue in Tracy. Small and fluffy, Roxy is not a young pup and has a bad hip, causing additional concern for Stella about her furry friend's safety. Roxy was wearing tags, but Stella fears someone may want to keep her as a pet.

Family members say the last few years have been tough for the Tracy native, she's lost two dogs from old age. "She's such a happy, good person. I hate hearing her so down," said Lauren Corso, Stella's daughter-in-law.

Stella hopes someone may have seen her precious pom and prays for her safe return.

"I don't know what else can go wrong. I feel like I lost my best friend."
