On Feb. 13, the City of Stockton announced funding availability through the 2018 Business Entrepreneurship program.

The program awards funding to businesses that provide “new and existing small business programs and supportive services focusing on the creation or enhancement of services for start-up business and entrepreneurs within the City of Stockton.”

The California Ambulatory Surgery Association (CASA) recently honored Sutter Surgery centers with five out of seven CASA Awards for Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Excellence:

  • Sutter Alhambra Surgery Center
  • Sutter Stockton Surgery Center
  • Surgery Center Palo Alto
  • Surgery Center San Carlos
  • Surgery Center Fremont

The CASA Award acknowledges CASA member facilities that exemplify best practices in the surgery center industry and actively promote and advocate for ASC excellence.

“The highly skilled clinicians and staff at our outpatient surgery centers do an outstanding job providing patients expert care in a safe environment,” said Sutter Surgery Division CEO Terry Glubka. “Congratulations to these teams for this well-deserved honor.”

The Modesto Area Music Awards celebrates performers from around the greater Modesto Area. Over the last 18 Years, we have seen some Winners go on to National and International Fame; Flying Blind, Grandaddy, Moonshine Bandits, DEV, UVR, and Megan Slankard have all found success beyond the 209. 
 
 
This year the MAMAs celebrate 18 years and I am sure that Murphy and Ricci had no idea that they would still be hosting the Show all these years later. It is a testament to how much talent we have in the area.We can only hope that many of this year's class are recognized beyond just receiving the stainless steel Carhop trophy. The talent is there as well as the drive for many of the nominees. The Event is Free but is invite only.

Harvest of Hope event to educate, inspire, show gratitude

On September 16, Memorial Medical Center’s Cancer Services Department presents a new event — Harvest of Hope— inspired by a very popular cancer prevention program held over the last few years.

"We are very excited about this event," said Cheryl Casey, Memorial Medical Center Cancer Services community outreach coordinator. "It will educate, it will inspire behavior change in the area of nutrition and optimal health, and it will honor all of those who work so hard to supply the wonderful harvest we have in our own agricultural community."

Sharon Palmer, RD is a well-known and respected expert on the topic of Plant-Based eating and will be the main speaker. Chef Jesse Laymon will be doing the cooking demo and tasting. Ali Stambaugh from Westurf Nursery will lead the home gardening class.
